Winter Project Pan Update!

Hey everyone! So here is my update on my winter project pan!
So: I completely finished the Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation and the Benefit Porefessional primer which I'm really happy about.
The Maybelline Fit Me concealer seems to be one of those products that never ends! I use it on the daily and it just never seems to run out! I do think I'm on the last few drops of it now though.
I'm really happy with the progress I made on the Maybelline Blushed Nudes palette. While it doesnt look like much, I managed to hit pan on 2 more shades, which I think is pretty good. Forcing myself to use it more often also made me love it a lot more. This palette doesn't have the best reviews and I really don't know why because I really do think it's a great one overall.

One product it seemed really hard for me to make progress on was the Marcelle Kohl eyeliner, even though I was using it frequently and sharpening it as well. I realized pretty soon after though that the reason it never seemed to be getting smaller was because I actually have 2 of these and I've been using both of them unknowingly!
The one item that I made absolutely no progress with was my Nyx Prismatic Shadow in 'Girl Talk'. To be quite honest, I'm not even sure I used it at all. I find I get so caught up using my palettes I often forget to use my single eyeshadows, so I think that'll be my goal for Spring!

Have you used up any products lately? Let me know in the comments!

PROJECT PAN! (Winter 2016/17)

If there's something I learned from my no-buy back in the Fall, it's that I really do have a LOT of makeup, a lot of it that has been sitting around, unused or half used and forgotten.
That's why I decided I'm going to start my own Project Pan, to use up some of the products that need some loving/need to go.
So from now until March 20th, 2017, I'm going to be working on finishing up these products!
The products:
Maybelline 'The Blushed Nudes' palette
Benefit 'The Porefessional' Primer
Marcelle Kohl Eyeliner
Maybelline 'Fit Me' Concealer
Covergirl 'Ready Set Gorgeous' Foundation
Nyx Prismatic Eyeshadow in 'Girl Talk'

All of these are products that I love, but have either been a bit neglected in my routine, or have just been lingering around for way too long. So I chose them to encourage myself to put them to more use.
As you can see, I've already made a significant dent in this palette. My goal is to hit pan on at least 2-3 more shades though.
Realistically, do I expect to finish all of them up?
Definitely not, especially with the palette.
My main goal is to see a noticeable difference in the amount of product and maybe have finished up at least half of the products on my list.

Let the fun begin!

My 10 Fall Makeup Essentials

Hi everyone! Can you believe September is almost over? Was that the fastest month ever or what?

I really wanted to take a little time to talk about my essential, must have makeup once Autumn comes around. While I'm not too strict when it comes to sticking to "seasonally appropriate" makeup, Fall is definitely my favourite season, so I definitely take advantage of it when it comes to my makeup choices.

Here are the things that I think are definite must haves in your collection for the Autumn months!

1) A good under eye concealer/colour corrector

Ah yes, back to school season. Midterms await, meaning sleepless nights and under eye darkness galore. Having a good heavy duty under eye concealer, and a good colour corrector is essential in the Fall.
I recommend: Lancome 'Effacernes' Under Eye Concealer & Nyx Dark Circle Concealer/Corrector

2) A Cool Toned Nude Lipstick

When I think of Fall lipstick, I think of 2 things: a vampy wine colour, and a cool toned nude. So on days you don't quite want to go for an intense dark lip, this is a really flattering choice. Plus it also gives you extra freedom to get a bit more creative with your eyeshadow looks!
I recommend: Essence 'Cool Nude' Lipstick

3) A Vampy Dark Red Lip

I won't bore you to death with the same story over again, but I had been on the hunt for the perfect dark wine lip colour, and I found it with Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in 'Copenhagen'. It's perfect and stunning and flattering on all skin tones. That is all.

4) Duo Chrome Eyeshadow

I like going for more 'outside of the box' eyeshadow looks in the fall. While on a day to day basis, I tend to stick with my safe neutrals, I do also like to reach for some vibrant coppers, or some really cool duo chrome looks that just seem to look so much cooler in the Autumnal months.
I recommend: Urban Decay Eyeshadow in  'Lounge' (it's described as a brick red with a green shift, and it is my favourite thing ever)

5) A Super Dark Black Eyeliner

I adore lack eyeliner, but I find that a super, intense black liners look best in the colder months. And years later, I have yet to find an eyeliner blacker than Urban Decay's 24 Hour Glide On Pencil in 'Perversion'

6) A Warm Toned Blush

I wear a lot of peach and baby pink blushes in the summer, but when it comes to fall and winter, I always go to a warmer blush to give that healthy "out in the cold" glow.
I recommend: Nyx HD Blush in 'Amber'

7) A Hydrating Foundation

When the weather cools down, my skin goes from combination to very dry. So I like a foundation that will keep my skin feeling hydrated and comfortable all day.
I recommend: Covergirl 'Ready Set Gorgeous' Foundation and Too Faced 'Born This Way' Foundation

9) Bolder Brows

I have natually thick brows, so I can get away with not doing much with them on a day to day basis with my lighter, more natural looks in the Summer. However I almost always fill them in during the Fall months, just because I love the look of bold brows with the more bold makeup looks that come during this time of year!
I recommend: Annabelle Skinny Brown Liner in Universal Ebony

10) Soft lips

Dry lips from the chilly weather paired with a vampy, dark matte lip is a disaster waiting happen. I take extra care to hydrate my lips as soon as the weather gets colder. I particularly love Burt's Bee's lip balms for this. I'm using one that's a coconut and pear flavour right now, and it is DIVINE.

August Favourites!

I know I say this every month, but how fast did August go by? It was a really great month for me but I'm already super excited for fall now. I didn't try out too many new products during the month of August but I really did fall in love with a small handful.

I think this was the month where I went out of my comfort zone a lot more in terms of eyeshadow and lip colours. I also went on a road trip that resulted in a fair bit of shopping. Anyway, looking through the products I used the most this month, these are the ones that stood out to me the most:

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette
I actually only purchased this palette this month and I'm so glad I decided to go for it. It is a very neutral palette, which is right up my alley of course. I already knew that I loved the formulation of Too Faced eye shadows so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. I only wish I picked this up sooner.

Nyx Lip Lingerie in 'Exotic'
I wanted to pick up some of Nyx's Lip Lingerie for so long now, and I finally got the chance to do so this month. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on these, but I found the formulation to be really nice. It applies very smoothly and evenly, and lasts pretty well. The only thing I did find is that it didn't fade very nicely, but if you touch up a few times a day, you won't have any issues.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 'Coral Berry'
It's no secret that I am in love with Revlon's Super Lustrous lipsticks. They are my favourite lipsticks at the drugstore. This colour is such a wearable coral that goes with so many different makeup looks. Hydrating, pigmented and easy to apply.
Lancome Effacernes Waterproof Under Eye Concealer
I wouldn't be surprised if I've mentioned this in past monthly favourites, but I still cannot get over how great this concealer is. Especially now that I'm back in school, and my under eyes are looking darker and more fatigued, this concealer has got my back. I pair it with a peachy colour corrector and my under eye darkness is virtually undetectable.

Covergirl Professional Loose Powder
I have memories of my mom using this powder when I was a little girl, and when I needed a new loose powder to set my under eye concealer, I picked this one up. It's a really good, dependable loose powder. I find that it sets my under eye area amazingly and leaves it smooth and creaseless all day, without looking too cakey or powdery.
Annabelle Smudge Liner in 'Atomic Surf '
Whenever I went for a more dramatic eye look, I loved applying turquoise liner on my bottom lash line. This liner in particular is so creamy and smooth, while also being insanely long wearing and pigmented. Annabelle never ceases to impress me with their eyeliners.

What did you love this month? Let me know! xo

Foundation Review Friday: Covergirl 'Clean' Foundation for Sensitive Skin

This product is such a throwback for me. Covergirl's 'Clean' Foundation for Sensitive skin is the first foundation I ever purchased back when I was in high school and just getting into wearing makeup. Of course, this is a new bottle but using it brings back the memories.

From what I've seen at the drugstore, they're repackaged this foundation, so it doesn't look like this anymore. The print on the front of the bottle is now a lighter green but it's still in the same glass bottle.

The Claims

  • Lightweight
  • Unscented
  • Oil-free
  • Soothes redness
  • Moisturizes dryness
  • Does not irritate skin or clog pores

The Results

  • This foundation was very lightweight on the skin but it also gave light coverage
  • As claimed, it is unscented
  • I didn't notice any irritation or break outs caused from this foundation
  • I did not find it to be moisturizing nor drying; it kind of just sat on top of my skin
  • I found that it would cling to any dry patches on my skin
  • Even though it gave very light coverage, it applied pretty streaky on my skin when I used a brush. Definitely opt for a Beauty Blender for this.
  • I can't really say it "soothed" any redness, but it covered it up well
  • The bottle of this foundation is the worst! It has no dropper or pump, so you have to pour it out, however it is a fairly thick product, so pouring it isn't exactly easy...

The Verdict

I found that for a light coverage foundation, this was not easy to work with. It took a lot of effort for it to look natural on me. I was pretty disappointed because it wasn't as good as I remembered it being back in the day, but then again, I've tried so many awesome foundations since then.

I'm not sure if it's been reformulated since the packaging has changed, but I don't believe it has. Overall, I don't think it's the best foundation out there. However, I do highly recommend the pressed powder that goes with this. It has been one of my holy grail powders ever since I first tried it and I have repurchased it many times!

Foundation Review Friday: Covergirl 'Ready Set Gorgeous' Foundation

So many drugstore foundations get a lot of hype on the internet, but I feel like Covergirl's 'Ready Set Gorgeous' foundation never really got much attention. I guess I can understand why; packaging wise, it isn't exactly the most intriguing. There's nothing necessarily wrong with it, but I feel the plastic and bright pink on it may make you think twice about it. Which I think is a shame, because this is a truly fantastic foundation.

I myself am guilty of judging the foundation by it's packaging. In fact, I probably wouldn't have even tried it if it wasn't on sale. Even once I did, I didn't even have the highest expectations for it. Of course, I was pleasantly surprised.

The claims-

  • Oil-free formula
  • Medium coverage to give a natural, flawless look

The facts-

Here is what I found with this foundation:

  • It comes in 12 different shades
  • This foundation gives about a medium coverage, that is buildable without becoming cakey.
  • Applied well with both a brush or a beauty blender, but I found a brush gave better coverage.
  • Long wearing, especially with a primer underneath (it lasted me 12 hours once, paired with the Benefit Porefessional).
  • It has no noticeable scent.
  • It didn't cause any breakouts, irritation or reaction in my skin (I have dry, sensitive skin).
  • It did not cling to any dry patches/rough areas on my skin.
  • It did crease (or kind of settle strangely?) a little bit in some areas after a few areas, but nothing extreme.
  • It set to a very natural looking semi-matte finish.
  • Does not oxidize

The Verdict

Honestly, this has to be one of the best drugstore foundations I've tried in a while. Besides the fact that it's super affordable and easily accessible, it is a really good formulation. I was really impressed with this and I definitely will be repurchasing this when I run out, which is a lot to say for a drugstore foundation. I highly recommend giving this a try. It works great on my dry skin, but since it has an oil-free formula, I think it would be great on oily skin types as well.

MAY FAVOURITES!

Wow, can you believe its June already? This  month flew by so quickly! Luckily, I did also discover a ton of amazing new products that I cannot wait to share with you all!

Nyx HD Concealer in "Fair"
The fact that this is a drugstore concealer blows my mind. It is so creamy and offers amazing coverage. Hands down the best concealer I've ever used on my under eye circles!

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous foundation (in 110 creamy natural)
I'm really liking this foundation this month. It offers a light to medium coverage which is what I like to have in the summer. It wears really well, even on really hot or humid days, which is a must!

Too Faced Shadow Insurance
I know this stuff has been around for ages, but WOW is it ever good. It can not only hold glittery eyeshadows for hours without any creasing, but it actually makes them look SO much better. It even increases the amount of pigmentation you get from your shadow! If you haven't tried this yet, you must.

L'Oreal Visible Lift CC eye concealer
This stuff is amazing for the summer and for the morning. The concealer itself is great; its very creamy and offers a light to medium level of coverage. The thing that won me over is the fact that it applies with a roller ball! It's really cooling on the eye area which helps if you have puffy eyes in the morning, or just want something soothing!

Nyx Prismatic Shadow in "Girl Talk"
I adore this eyeshadow. Its so sparkly and pretty, I just cannot get enough of it. It's also a very versatile shade so it can be used in a lot of different eye looks. I've also used it as a highlight once and it looks great there too!

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm
I'm a person who often has trouble finding a good nude lipstick that doesn't make me look washed out, since I'm quite pale. This is the one for sure. It looks so natural and pretty, I can't get enough of it.

Food Favourite: Smartfood Cheddar Jalapeno popcorn
I'm so addicted to this popcorn, it's becoming a problem. But it's soooooooo gooooooood........

TV Show: Grey's Anatomy
Yes, I know I'm late to get on board with this. But I watched 6 seasons in a month and a half, so I think that counts as a serious addiction.
